Elyse Mohn and Katy Connery led the Belmont Abbey women's
lacrosse team with two goals each, but 11 different Rollins players
scored at least one goal as the Tars earned a 19-7 women's lacrosse
victory tonight in Winter Park, Florida. Rollins remains unbeaten
at 4-0, while the Crusaders drop to 3-2.
Mohn and Connery both scored two goals, while Lindsay Connolly,
Mackenzie Miller and Rebecca Diggs all had one each. All seven of
the Abbey's goals were unassisted. Connery also led all players
with eight draw control wins and ten ground balls.
Rollins, which outshot the Abbey 39-17, was led by Courtney
Bianculli's four goals, while Chelsea Pinneke, Katie Palasz, Sophie
Townsend, Erica Pagliarulo and Mo Imel all scored two. Caroline
Lamere, Kelly Thayer, Tyler Thomas, Allie Bohan and Kathleen
Williams all scored once.
The Tars led 12-7 at the half as it jumped ahead 3-1 after
Connolly scored the game's first goal just 1:46 into the contest.
The Crusaders tied the game at three on a pair of unanswered goals,
the last coming from Mohn on a free position shot, but Rollins
moved ahead for good with three unanswered strikes to surge ahead
6-3.
After a Connery goal momentarily halted the Rollins momentum,
the Tars scored six of the last seven goals of the half to grab a
12-5 lead at the break.
Rollins continued its momentum into the second half, scoring the
first four goals to move ahead 16-5. Miller stopped the run with a
goal, but Rollins scored three of the last four goals to close the
game.
