Women's Lacrosse Edged By #14 Bloomsburg, 15-12

The Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team lost a 15-12 decision to the visiting 14th-ranked Bloomsburg Huskies this afternoon at Alumni Field. Bloomsburg moves to 2-1, while the Abbey drops to 4-5.

Belmont Abbey trailed 10-6 at the half but outscored the Huskies 6-5 in the final 30 minutes, cutting its deficit to as few as one goal on a MacKenzie Miller strike with 5:01 left, but Bloomsburg scored the final two goals of the game, both coming inside the final 1:30, to seal the win.

Bloomsburg outshot the Abbey 30-21 and held a 17-12 edge in draw control wins. Both teams finished with 28 ground balls.

Katy Connery and Rebecca Diggs both led the Abbey with two goals apiece. Miller, Lindsay Connolly, Ariel Walker, Molly Schaefer, Shannin Darley, Reese Gassie, Gina Colella and Megan Patton all scored once. Connolly handed out three assists.

Connery added two draw control wins and a team-high six ground balls. Patton and Colella both finished with three draw control wins.

Julie Falk led the Huskies with seven goals on 12 shots.
