Trailing 9-7 at the half, the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team outscored Queens 14-6 in the second half, scoring nine-straight goals during one stretch, as the Crusaders earned a 21-15 non-conference win this afternoon at Alumni Field. The Crusaders snap a three-game losing streak as they improve to 4-3, while the Royals drop to 4-4.

Queens built a 9-7 halftime edge and improved it to 11-7 after scoring the first two goals of the second half, but the Crusaders fired back with nine unanswered tallies in a span of just 12 minutes. The goals came from Lindsay Connolly (2), Katy Connery (2), Reese Gassie (2), Shannin Darley, MacKenzie Miller and Rebecca Diggs. Gassie's second strike of the run, a man up goal, moved the Crusaders ahead 16-11.

Brittany Barnwell momentarily halted the run with the last of her four goals, but the Abbey fired right back with four straight, as Connery, Gassie, Miller and Megan Patton all scored in the flurry, which raised the Abbey's lead to 20-12.

Queens scored three of the last four goals of the game.

Connery led the Abbey with seven goals, while Connolly, Gassie and Miller all netted three. Diggs, Patton, Darley and Lauren DiChiara all finished with one, and the Abbey posted another on a Queens own goal. Connolly posted three assists and Ariel Walker collected one.

Connery added four ground balls and two draw control wins. Gina Colella led the Abbey with three draw controls and seven ground balls. Danielle Ruffalo made ten saves.
