The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team lost a 3-1 decision at North Georgia this afternoon in a battle of regional rivals. North Georgia remains unbeaten at 3-0, while the Abbey drops to 0-2.

North Georgia moved ahead 1-0 in the 38th minute when Cicely Taliaferro's header beat Hannah Kohls to put the Lady Saints ahead. North Georgia's lead grew to 2-0 in the 65th minute on Kelly Penston strike, but the Crusaders quickly edged the deficit back to one just under three minutes later.

Alana Ryczek sent a pass to the box into a group of players, where freshman Cassidy Coutinho emerged with possession and beat Mallory Sayre for her first collegiate goal.

14 minutes later, North Georgia regained its two goal lead as Taliaferro's pass to Abby Trevino was redirected into the net to push the lead to 3-1, which was the final.

North Georgia outshot the Abbey 30-10 and held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks. Kohls made 10 saves and Sayre stopped seven shots.
