Belmont Abbey sophomore forward Ananda Gebreyesus scored the only goal of the match in the 67th minute to power the Crusaders women's soccer team past the visiting St. Andrews College Knights 1-0 this afternoon in Conference Carolinas action. The victory evens the Abbey's record to 4-4 and remains unbeaten in conference play with a 4-0 mark, while the Knights drop to 1-7 overall and 0-6 in Conference Carolinas. It is the Abbey's third shutout in four Conference Carolinas matches.

The Crusaders dominated the match from start to finish, outshooting St. Andrews 28-1 and holding a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.

After numerous scoring chances, Gebreyesus scored her fourth goal in two matches at the 66:08 mark. She ran down a long, high pass, beat two defenders and raced unmarked towards the goal, where she flipped in her fifth goal of the year into the lower right corner for the score.

The Abbey defense limited St. Andrews to just one shot, a first half free kick from 24 yards out that sailed over the crossbar.
