Laura Dowd and Susan Killeavy both scored four goals as the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team picked up its second-straight win with a 17-6 victory at Lenoir-Rhyne this evening. The Abbey moves to 3-5, while Lenior-Rhyne, a first year program, falls to 3-6.

The Crusaders outshot the Lady Bears 28-15 as Dowd and Killeavy both led the way with four goals on six shots apiece. Elyse Mohn added three goals on three shots. Kristyn Kinsey scored twice, while Rachael Schraeder, Morgan Cross, Emily Hudgins and Lindsay Connolly all had one. Schraeder had two assists while Killeavy and Laura Dichiara had one each.

After Lenoir-Rhyne scored the first two goals of the contest, the Abbey stormed back by scoring the next four goals, the last two by Mohn, to put the Abbey ahead for good. L-R scored at the 21:32 mark to trim the deficit to 4-3, but the Abbey fired right back with eight-straight goals, the first six of those to close the half, to build the lead to 12-3. Six different Crusaders scored in the flurry, with Dowd scoring three of those.

A goal by Lenoir-Rhyne's Stevie Dellinger stopped the Abbey run at the 25:09 mark in the second half, but it was answered by back-to-back goals from Killeavy and Kinsey to widen the advantage to ten goals at 14-4.

From there, two L-R goals were sandwiched around three from the Crusaders, as Connolly, Killeavy and Cross all scored goals to provide the winning margin.

The Crusaders caused seven turnovers as Dowd was credited with four. She also had three draw control wins and four ground balls. Schraeder and Mary Frommling both had two ground balls. Goalkeeper Tory Morgan stopped six Lenoir-Rhyne shots.
