Belmont Abbey's Luarie Jordan scored five goals and had two
assists for seven total points to lead the Crusaders to a 15-4 win
over the Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats Tuesday afternoon at Tate
Field in a Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse game.
The Abbey used an 8-0 first half to take the lead with all five
of Jordan's goals and one her assists coming in the half, but LMC
would score the first three goals of the second half to cut the
lead to 8-3. Lauren Martin scored Lees-McRae first goal, and Ellie
Psillas notched the next two. However, the Abbey would respond with
three goals by Megan Patton to push the lead to 11-3. Lexi King put
away the Lady Bobcats final goal, but two goals by the Abbey's
Brianna Dignan and two goals by Tara Chmil gave the game the final
of 15-4.
Dignan ended the day with six total points with three goals and
three assists for the Abbey. Jordan also led the team with five
groundballs and four draw controls. Chmil had a team-high four
caused turnovers.
For the Lady Bobcats, Psillas had two goals and Martin and King
had one. Nicole Nixon had a team-high six groundballs, and Abby
White had four caused turnovers. Psillas and Martin also paced the
team with two draw controls.
Martha Peacock had five saves between the pipes for the Lady
Bobcats, while her counterpart Natalie Crenshaw had four saves for
The Abbey.
Belmont Abbey outshot Lees-McRae 24-16 and won the draw control
battle 13-5. The Lady Crusaders held a slight groundball advantage
36-35, and were successful on ten of their 11 clear attempts. The
Lady Bobcats only made good on ten of their 21 clear attempts.
