Belmont Abbey junior midfielder Laurie Jordan scored four goals,
one of 13 Lady Crusaders to find the back of the net, as the
women's lacrosse team earned a 21-1 win at Converse this afternoon.
The Abbey improves to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in Conference Carolinas,
while the Valkyries fall to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in Conference
Carolinas.
The Abbey outshot Converse 39-5 as it built a 13-1 halftime
advantage, with Jordan scoring four goals on six shots while
collecting three ground balls and winning three draw controls.
Emily Hudgins tallied three goals, while Brianna Dignan, Samantha
Hooker and Kerri Gut all scored twice. Shannon Farden, Meghan
Darley, Tara Chmil, Morgan Cross, Allie Darley, Laura Dowd, Amanda
Jones and Stephanie Schwartz all had one. Dignan led the way with
three assists, while Chmil, Meghan Darley, Farden and Hooker each
had two. Cross and Gut both had one.
Defensively, All-American defender Theresa Nolan led the way
with five ground balls while Amy Mattison had three. Jones led the
way with two caused turnovers. Mattison collected three saves in
the cage.
