Men's Basketball Falls At Barton, 94-66

Belmont Abbey freshman guard Richard Barbee tied for the game-high and led the Abbey with 22 points, but the Crusaders fell at Barton 94-66 this evening. Barton improves to 16-7 overall and 12-4 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey, which had its four game winning streak snapped, slips to 15-10 overall and 13-5 in Conference Carolinas.

Barbee finished with 22 points on 9-17 shooting from the field and sank four of his five free throw attempts. He also had four rebounds and a steal. Junior guard Deonte Murphy added 13 points, five assists and four steals. The Abbey shot 34.9 percent (22-63) from the floor.

Barton was led by Errol Frails's 22 points, as he led three Bulldogs in double figures. Bobby Buffaloe finished with 19 points, and L.J. Dunn recorded a double double with 15 points and 14 rebounds as Barton shot 53.3 percent (32-60) from the floor.

The Abbey is back in action Thursday night at 7:30 when it hosts Mount Olive in the home finale.
