FLORENCE, S.C. -- Zac Birch put Belmont Abbey ahead early with his first goal of the season, but Francis Marion responded for a 3-1 victory over the Crusaders in Conference Carolinas men's soccer action Saturday afternoon.
With the result, The Abbey falls to 2-4-2 overall and 1-4 in league play, while the Patriots improve to 6-1-1, 3-0-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Birch scored unassisted 6:20 into the contest for a 1-0 Abbey lead.
- The Patriots evened the game less than seven minutes later and wen ahead at the 23:59 mark.
- FMU added an insurance goal 20 minutes into the second half.
- Jackson Bennett made two saves in goal.
- The Patriots outshot the Crusaders 16-7 overall and 5-3 on goal
