BELMONT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey battled defending National Collegiate Rugby champion St. Bonaventure Saturday, but a late score lifted the Bonnies to a 14-13 victory over the Crusaders in American Rugby Conference action Saturday.
Harrison Tu'isila scored eight points on a conversion and two penalty kicks, but St. Bonaventure got the game-winning try in extra time.
The Crusaders fall to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in league play, while St. Bonaventure improves to 4-1, 1-0.
Belmont Abbey returns to action next week against Wingate. The 6 p.m. match will serve as Senior Day.
