GREENVILLE, S.C. — Belmont Abbey forward
Haley Long was named the Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday by the league office.
Long put together a strong week in helping Belmont Abbey to two wins over UNC Pembroke and Wingate, compiling a goal and two assists. Against the Braves on Thursday, she scored the tying goal in the 84th minute and later assisted on the go-ahead goal less than two minutes later to help the Abbey rally on Saturday for a 2-1 victory. She followed that with an assist to
Caroline Roche to tie the match against the Bulldogs as the Crusaders went on to earn a 2-1 victory on Saturday.
This is the second in her career that Long has earned Player of the Week honors from the league office.
Belmont Abbey is on the road for a pair of games this week starting at 13th ranked Catawba on Wednesday followed by the Conference Carolinas opener at Lees-McRae on Saturday.
