SALISBURY, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey rallied from two sets down to force a deciding fifth set but a late run lifted host Catawba to a 3-2 (25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 17-25 15-10) victory over the Crusaders Saturday afternoon at The 5th Set Invitational.
The Abbey concludes the first weekend of the season with a 2-1 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Renata Bolada and Tyler Case each had 14 kills to lead the offensive attack.
- Bolada posted her second double-double of the season by adding 14 digs while also tallying an assist, two service aces and a block solo.
- Lola Sultenfuss also reached double figures in kills with 10, hitting .360 (10k-1e-25a).
- Emma Youngblood dished out 31 assists while adding seven digs and an ace.
- Case also registered seven digs
- As a team, the Crusaders totaled nine service aces.
UP NEXT
- Belmont Abbey returns to action next weekend at the Viking Classic hosted by Elizabeth City State.
- The Crusaders will face West Chester and Glenville State on Friday, then the host Vikings and Kutztown on Saturday.
