GASTONIA, N.C. — Jack Boyles had a two-hit day as the Belmont Abbey baseball team battled Young Harris on Saturday afternoon in the semifinal of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Tournament at CaroMont Health Park.
The Crusaders ended up dropping their first game of the tournament in a 12-0 shutout in seven innings.
With Saturday's result, Belmont Abbey is now 38-13 on the season while Young Harris is now 38-15.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Young Harris had two runs in the first inning to get the scoring started.
- Jacob Steinberg had Belmont Abbey's first hit of the game in the second inning.
- The Mountain Lions added a run in the third inning.
- Sawyer Osborne pitched into the sixth inning for the second time this season and allowed four earned runs on six hits and two strikeouts.
- The Crusaders used five pitchers in the contest.
- Boyles' two hits came in the fifth and seventh innings.
- After a two-run sixth inning, the Mountain Lions broke the game open with a pair of three-run home runs in the seventh inning.
- It is just the second time this season that the Crusaders have been shut out this season.

- Belmont Abbey will face North Greenville in an elimination game at 1 p.m. Sunday at CaroMont Health Park in Gastonia.
- The winner of that game would have to defeat Young Harris twice to win the Conference Carolinas Tournament title.
