SUMTER, S.C. — For the fifth straight year, the Belmont Abbey men's tennis team will play for a Conference Carolinas Tournament title.
The Crusaders earned a return trip to the title match with a 4-0 over Converse Friday morning at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
Belmont Abbey earned the win by winning No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Jackson Korta and
Cameron Simpson along with
Tim Stemler and
Noelle Andrey Ampong earned 6-3 wins in their respective matches.
In singles play,
Joel Lamotte defeated Manuel Roncero 6-4, 6-1 while
Marcus Bergelin won 6-2, 6-3.
Peru Bayo earned the clinching point at No. 4 singles after rallying from dropping the first set to a 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over Takuma Furukami.
Belmont Abbey is now 22-17 on the season while Converse closes its season with a 15-7 record.
