WINSTON-SALEM, N.C./TIGERVILLE, S.C. — The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team won a pair of road matches Saturday as the Crusaders clinched the outright Northwest Division title.
Belmont Abbey defeated Winston-Salem State 6-1 on the road before rallying for a 4-3 win over North Greenville.
Against the Rams, the Crusaders took two of three matches in doubles to earn the point and five of six singles matches.
Taylor Reid,
Maggie Page and
Rachel Flynn won in both singles and doubles play.
At NGU,
Leilany Sanchez and
Rebekka Collyer helped play key roles in the win. In doubles play, the two rallied from being down 4-1 to earn the win and then both won their respective singles matches.
Sanchez's win proved to be the clinching point for the Crusaders.
With Saturday's results, Belmont Abbey is now 17-6 overall and 9-1 in Conference Carolinas play.
