BELMONT, N.C. -- Caden Day had 12 kills and five digs -- both team highs -- and Belmont Abbey collectively hit .310, leading the Crusaders to a 3-0 victory (27-25, 25-19, 25-18) over George Mason in collegiate men's volleyball action Saturday afternoon. The win was the third straight sweep after not having one in the first nine matches.
The Abbey improves to 10-2 overall, while the Patriots, who were receiving votes in the AVCA national collegiate poll this week, fall to 10-7.Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- Day hit .450 with just three errors in 20 attempts, while adding an assist and a block assist.
- Zach Puentes had the next-highest kill total with seven, while TJ Neville and Jibried Elhaddad had four each.
- Joseph Morris had 29 assists and four blocks. He also served one of the team's three aces.
- Leyton Ritchie and Neville recorded the other two aces.
- Belmont Abbey had eight team blocks, compared to just one for the Patriots.
- The Crusaders grabbed the first set 27-25 by fighting off two GMU set points. Trailing 24-23 and then 25-24, the Crusaders scored three straight points for 1-0 lead.
- The .hitting percentage was the eighth of the year over .300.

- Belmont Abbey hits the road for two matches during its spring break, both against nationally-ranked teams.
- The Crusaders face 13th-ranked McKendree on Tuesday and No. 10 Lindenwood Wednesday.
