FLORENCE, S.C./RALEIGH, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team extended its match winning streak to six after earning wins in road matches at Francis Marion and Meredith Friday.
The Crusaders won their first conference match with a 4-3 victory over the Patriots and a 6-1 win over the Avenging Angels.
Against the Patriots, Belmont Abbey had taken the doubles point before FMU won the first three singles matches. The Crusaders rallied and completed the comeback thanks to
Hanley Riner, who won her match in three sets after falling behind 4-1 in the third set.
At Meredith, the Crusaders won with a clean sweep in doubles while also winning five of six singles matches.
Belmont Abbey is now 7-4 overall and 1-0 in Conference Carolinas competition. Francis Marion is 1-5, 0-1 in the league and Meredith is 0-5.
