GREENVILLE, S.C. — Belmont Abbey forward Brielle George was named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Freshman of the Month Friday by the league office.

It is the second straight month that George has earned the award from the conference. 

George put together another strong month for the Crusaders, averaging 8.5 and 9.9 rebounds for the month of January. She finished the month with three double-doubles, including a career-best 16 points and 17 rebounds in the victory at Mount Olive on January 19.

Additionally, the freshman from West Palm Beach, Florida recorded double-doubles against Shorter and Ferrum and has six on the season.

The Crusaders are back on the road on Saturday against Francis Marion in a rematch of the Conference Carolinas Tournament championship game from last season.
