CENTRAL, S.C. — Sofia McNabb finished with a career-high 15 points as the Belmont Abbey women's basketball team defeated Southern Wesleyan 73-43 Saturday afternoon at Tysinger Gymnasium.
The win marks the third straight for the Crusaders who have reached the 20-win mark for the fourth consecutive year under head coach
Kim Lusk.
McNabb was one of two Crusaders in double figures with
Kallie Lusk adding 10 points.
Madison Lusk had nine while
Leigha Dennison and
Ava Fulkerson each had eight.
The win improves Belmont Abbey to 20-6 overall and 15-4 in Conference Carolinas play. Southern Wesleyan is 6-20 overall, 4-14 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crusaders jumped out to a fast start by opening the game on a 12-2 run and leading 22-5 after the first quarter.
- Belmont Abbey had the outside shot going early making four 3-pointers in the first quarter.
- McNabb accounted for the first five points of the second quarter for the Crusaders. She also accounted for both 3-pointers made in the period.
- Southern Wesleyan got the game within 12 points early in the third quarter but an 8-0 run helped the Abbey regain a 20-point advantage.
- Belmont Abbey closed the game out by holding Southern Wesleyan to just six points in the fourth quarter.
- The Crusaders' largest lead in the contest was 31 points.
- Belmont Abbey had a 47-19 rebounding advantage led by 16 a game-high rebounds from Brielle George.
- The Crusaders recorded 14 assists from eight different players.
- Riley James led with three assists and also had three steals.

- The Crusaders close the regular season with a contest against Northwest Division rival Lees-McRae.
