GREENSBORO, N.C./MONROE, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey men's tennis teams split the team across two different matched Tuesday as one group of Crusaders faced Division I opponent UNC Greensboro while a second group faced Wingate.
Both teams competed but each came away with losses. At UNCG, the Spartans defeated the Abbey 5-2 while Wingate defeated the Crusaders 4-3 at Monroe High School.
At UNCG, the Spartans swept the doubles point while
Aarav Hada and
Nicholas Rizzo and won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
The Crusaders nearly rallied against the Bulldogs. Despite being swept in doubles,
Charlie Fremaux,
Peru Bayo and
Marcus Bergelin won at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles. The other matches were all decided in three sets.
Belmont Abbey is now 5-5 following the two matches.

- Belmont Abbey will split the squad for two more matches Wednesday.
- One group will host Hampden-Sydney at 1 p.m. at the Reidy Tennis Center while the other group will face Guilford in Greensboro at 2 p.m.
