Patrick, Towery Register Multiple Hits in Concord Doubleheader

ATHENS, W. Va. -- Alayna Patrick and Megan Towery had hits in both games of Saturday's doubleheader, but Concord earned a sweep over the Crusaders. The Mountain Lions took the opener 3-1 before winning the second game 4-3.

THE OPENER
  • Four different players had a hit, highlighted by a solo home run by Patrick in the sixth inning.
  • Megan Towery, Casey Laing and Lauryn Huebsch all had singles.
  • Sienna Garcia (1-2) took the loss despite striking out 10 in a complete-game effort. She allowed just five hits but the total included back-to-back doubles by the Mountain Lions in a three-run fifth.

THE NIGHTCAP

  • Patrick and Jordan Stefani both batted 2-for-3 in the contest to lead the Crusaders.
  • Stefani scored twice, while Patrick delivered an RBI single and later scored.
  • Towery also drove in a run with an infield single.
  • Hannah Jane Gard and Kennedy Teasley had the team's only extra-base hits, both doubles.
  • Erin Gill (0-1) took the loss, allowing three first-inning runs.

UP NEXT

  • Belmont Abbey continues its road swing with a trip to Augusta on Wednesday.
  • The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Feb. 4, but postponed by weather.
