BELMONT, N.C. -- Tyler Case posted her third straight double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs and Renata Bolado ran her strreak to seven in a row, leading Belmont Abbey to a 3-1 (21-25, 25-15, 30-28, 25-15) victory over Young Harris in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action Friday night at the Wheeler Center.
With their second straight win, the Crusaders improve to 10-8 overall and 5-6 in league play, while Young Harris falls to 7-11 and 1-10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Case hit .333 with just four errors in 46 chances. She also added an assist and service ace.
- Bolado tallied 12 kills and 12 digs, but served seven aces, a mark that is tied for second-most ever in school history. The seven aces tie the record for four-set matches.
- Lola Sultenfuss added 10 kills, and Taylor Marts had six kills against one error in 10 chances to hit .500.
- Emma Youngblood dished out 40 assists, while Sheridan Young led the Crusaders with 18 digs.
- Belmont Abbey finished with 14 service aces, led by Bolado's seven. The Crusaders also totaled 52 kills and 59 digs.
- Young Harris took the opening set 25-21, using a late run to pull away after Belmont Abbey had cut the deficit to 19-18.
- The Crusaders responded emphatically in the second set, hitting .219 with 13 kills to even the match with a 25-15 victory.
- Set three proved to be the turning point. After a back-and-forth battle featuring 15 tie scores, Belmont Abbey prevailed 30-28 to take a 2-1 lead.
- The Abbey closed out the match in the fourth set, hitting .312 with 14 kills to earn a 25-15 victory.
