Crusaders Open Missouri Trip with 3-0 Win over Maryville

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Belmont Abbey opened a fall break trip to Missouri Friday with a 3-0 win over Maryville, relying on three different goalscorers and the fourth shutout of the season.

With the win, the Crusaders improve to 7-4, while the Saints fall to 1-11.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Marie Camastro opened the scoring at the 13:20 mark of the first quarter, finishing a play assisted by Skyler Sciaretta and Valerie De Bruin to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead. It was her first goal of the season and first since her freshman year.
  • Belmont Abbey maintained its advantage through the second and third quarters, but didn't add to the total until the fourth. Sophia Coleman extended the lead to 2-0 at 48:01 before Sarah Schumacher capped the scoring at 58:14, converting a penalty corner off an assist from Isabella Hite.
  • Annmarie Mullen finished with two saves as the Crusaders limited Maryville to just two shots on goal to secure the shutout.
  • The Crusaders outshot Maryville 24-6, including a 12-2 advantage in shots on goal. Belmont Abbey also held a 13-5 edge in penalty corners.
