BELMONT, N.C. -- Elijah Burnett scored a career-high 21 points, but a late rally fell just short, 64-61 at Mount Olive Monday afternoon.
With the result, the Crusaders fall to 5-11 overall and 3-7 in Conference Carolinas play. The Trojans improve to 8-9, 5-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Burnett connected on eight of 12 field goal attempts, including a three-pointer. He added three rebound. and three assists.
- Gabe Cerda and Frankin Davis also reached double figures in scoring with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
- Cerda was the assist leader while also making four steals, the most by a Crusader this year.
- Judah Ravenell grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and dished out three assists.
- The Abbey had just nine turnovers, but shot just 41.4 percent (24 of 58) from the field.
- Mount Olive led by as many as 13 in the second half -- 61-48 with 6:26 to play. A 13-2 run trimmed the lead to 63-61Â with 38 seconds left, but a game-tying three-point attempt with two ticks remaining was unsuccessful.
