BELMONT, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team earned its fifth straight win and fifth in Conference Carolinas play with a 7-0 victory over Converse Tuesday afternoon at the Reidy Tennis Center.
The Crusaders completed their fourth sweep in five matches during that run with wins in all nine matches.
Hanley Riner,
Mackenzie McCarthy and
Alexis Burkhalter all earned wins in both doubles and singles play and only one of the nine matches needed to go into a deciding third set.
Kaitlin Nguyen eanred a 6-4, 6-3 win over Lais Martins and has won four of her last five matches at No. 2 singles.
With Tuesday's results, Belmont Abbey is now 13-16 overall, 5-2 in Conference Carolinas play. Converse is 8-9 overall, 3-5 in the league.
