FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. -- Caden Day tallied a season-high 15 kills and added nine digs and Belmont Abbey hit .307 as a team, leading the Crusaders to a 3-1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-10, 25-12) victory over Emmanuel in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball action Saturday afternoon.
With the win, The Abbey improves to 14-8 overall and 11-2 in league play, locking up the No. 2 seed and a quarterfinal round bye for the conference tournament later this month. Emmanuel falls to 4-22, 2-11 and was eliminated from postseason play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Day hit .300 overall with just six errors in 30 chances. In addition to his nine digs -- just one shy of tying his career-best -- he was credited with three blocks assists.
- Zach Puentes also reached double figures in kills with 14 and a .343 hitting percentage (14k-2e-35a).
- Jibriel Elhaddad also had a stellar attacking day with nine kills and a .467 percentage, while adding nine digs and six blocks.
- Joseph Morris posted his second double-double of the season with 38 assists and a season-high-tying 10 digs.Â
- Also on the defensive front, Garrett Hockman registered a career-high nine blocks (two solo).
- Belmont Abbey served five aces, led by Morris with two.
- The Crusaders also used 15 team blocks to force the Lions into a -.025 hitting percentage (25k-28e-120a).
