HICKORY, N.C. -- Katelyn Miller scored three times, but Lenoir-Rhyne jumped out to an early lead en route to an 16-7 victory in non-conference women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon.

The result closes the Crusaders' regular season at 8-8, while the Bears improve to 9-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Bears followed up a 5-2 advantage in the first quarter with a 6-2 run in the second, then held off the Crusaders for the win.
• Miller scored three times and added an assist for four points, while Abbey McCarthy and Olivia Carlino tallied two goals apiece.
• Addyson Greenspan and Abba Walsh capped the scoring with Walsh also chipping in an assist.
• ,Elizabeth Hommel led the Crusaders with five ground balls, while three players each caused three turnovers.
• Summer Eddinger made 11 saves in goal, while causing two turnovers and grabbing three ground balls.
