Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men’s Tennis Goes 2-1 on Busy Friday

BELMONT, N.C. and FLORENCE, S.C. — The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team took two of three matches at two different sites on a busy Friday.

The Crusaders went 1-1 at home, defeating Davis & Elkins 6-1 in the morning before dropping a 5-2 match to Union Commonwealth. Belmont Abbey capped the day with a 5-2 win over Francis Marion in Florence. The match against FMU officially is recorded as a nonconference match.

Belmont Abbey was in control of the morning match against D&E with wins in seven of the nine matches. Noelle Andrey Ampong and Jackson Korta both won in singles and doubles play.
Against the Bulldogs, the Crusaders took two of three matches in doubles play while Matthew Orozco earned a win at No. 3 singles.

At FMU, the Crusaders rallied after being swept in doubles to take five of the six singles matches. Peru Bayo provided the clinching point for Belmont Abbey. The box scores from both matches will be available later.

With Friday's results, Belmont Abbey is now 10-14 on the season.

  • Belmont Abbey travels to Flagler for the final match before taking a week off for Spring Break on Saturday in Saint Augustine, Florida.
  • The match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
