Eddinger Tallies Season-High 16 Saves Against UAH

BELMONT, N.C. — Summer Eddinger tallied a season-high 16 saves and three Crusaders scored two goals each as the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team stepped out of conference play to face Alabama Huntsville Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Despite Eddinger's season-best, the Crusaders fell 10-6 to the Chargers.

With the result, Belmont Abbey is now 6-5 on the season while UAH is 5-8 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Eddinger made 12 saves in the first half of Wednesday's contest with six in each quarter.
  • UAH scored three goals in the first quarter but it was Katelyn Miller who scored the first of her two goals three minutes into the second quarter via an Olivia Carlino assist.
  • Miller's second goal came off a free-position shot.
  • The Crusaders trailed by six entering the fourth quarter but the Abbey got two goals back early in the fourth quarter thanks goals from Abbey McCarthy and Carlino.
  • McCarthy was credited with an assist on Carlino's goal.
  • Carlino's final goal of the day came with 2:42 remaining off an assist from Faith Piser.
  • Taylor Lester also finished with a team-high five ground balls and two caused turnovers for Belmont Abbey.
  • The Crusaders finished with 14 shots, 12 of them on goal.
UP NEXT
  • The Crusaders' previously scheduled next game against Lees-McRae on April 1 has been canceled.
  • Belmont Abbey travels on the road to face Young Harris at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5th.
