BELMONT, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team celebrated its senior class with a win thanks to a 6-1 victory over Chowan Saturday morning at the Reidy Tennis Center.
Seniors
Jaden Johnson,
Nicholas Cary and
Matthew Orozco were recognized in a pre-match ceremony.
Once the match began, the Crusaders picked up a third straight conference win and fourth overall thanks to sweeping the doubles point and winning five of six singles matches.
Both Cary and Orozco helped the Abbey thanks to wins in their respective doubles matches and Cary added a 6-1, 6-0 win in No. 4 singles to step up for the Crusaders. Jackson Kora and
Charlie Fremaux were the others who also won in both singles and doubles play for the Crusaders.
With Saturday's result, Belmont Abbey is now 14-15 overall and 3-0 in Conference Carolinas play. Chowan is now 2-7 overall, 0-4 in the league.
