BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Khamani Wertz tallied 25 points and grabbed six rebounds -- both team highs -- but Lees-McRae rode a hot shooting hand to a 76-60 victory over Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Wednesday night.
With the results, the Crusaders close the 2024-25 season at 2-21 overall and 1-19 in league play, while the Bobcats improve to 13-15,10-10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wertz hit seven three-pointers and a two-point basket, plus both free throws, for his scoring total. He also made a steal in addition to his effort on the boards.
- Jordan Patton was the only other Crusader to reach double figures with 13 points.
- Alhousseny Diallo registered five rebounds, but the Bobcats held a 36-29 advantage on the glass.
- Josh Lindsay and Lex Van Den Bergh shared the team assist lead with four.
- Lees-McRae hit 63.3 percent (19 of 30) from the field in the opening half and finished the contest at 57.4 percent (31 of 51).
