BELMONT, N.C. -- Katelyn Miller scored three goals and Olivia Carlino added two, but a late rally fell short in a 10-8 setback against Palm Beach Atlantic in women's lacrosse action Friday afternoon. The 25th-ranked Crusaders trailed 8-4 after three quarters before outscoring the Sailfish 4-1 over the final 15 minutes.

The result drops The Abbey to 2-2 on the season, while the contest was the season opener for PBAU.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Kacey Kubarewicz, Abba Walsh and Abbey McCarthy rounded out the scoring. Walsh's goal was the first of her career.
• Grace Ridge had the only assist for the Crusaders.
• Addyson Greenspan picked up five ground balls, while Ridge and Caitlyn Marone added four each. Marone also forced a team-high three turnovers.
• Summer Eddinger (2-2) made five saves and grabbed three ground balls in goal. She also caused a turnover.
• Belmont Abbey outshot the Sailfish 29-18 overall and 20-15 on goal. The Crusaders won the battle for draw controls 12-9 and grabbed 11 more ground balls, 32 to 21.
