Cassidy Matches Career-High Scoring to Lead 25th-ranked Crusaders

BELMONT, N.C. -- Triniti Cassidy tallied five goals and three others added three each, leading 25th-ranked Belmont Abbey to a 22-6 victory over Catawba in women's lacrosse action Tuesday night. Cassidy also dished out an assist for a season-high six points.

With the win, the Crusaders improve to 2-1 on the season, while the Indians fall to 1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Faith Piser and Katelyn Miller tallied four points each on three goals and an assist, while Addyson Greenspan and Abby McCarthy had three goals each.
  • Olivia Ritchie (two goals), Olivia Carlino, Kacey Kubarewicz and Emerson Sheyda capped the scoring.
  • Cassidy was also the leader in ground balls with four, while Kubarewicz caused a team-high three turnovers.
  • Summer Eddinger made four saves in goal for her second win of the season.
  • The Abbey held a 55-13 advantage in shots, including 27-10 on goal. It had a 21-13 edge on ground balls and forced 22 Catawba turnovers.
  • Belmont Abbey outscored Catawba in every quarter, jumping out to a 5-1 lead after the first 15 minutes. The halftime advantage climbed to seven, 11-4, with a plus-two margin in the third for a 15-6 lead entering the final period. The Crusaders took that 7-0 to complete the scoring.
