Four Top Double Figures as Crusaders Top Lees-McRae

BELMONT, N.C. -- Four players topped double figures, highlighted by Daniel Lubamba's double-double, leading Belmont Abbey to a 76-66 victory over Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Tuesday night. The Crusaders held Lees-McRae to just 22 first-half points in earning their third straight Northwest Division win.

With the victory, The Abbey improved to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in league play, while the Bobcats fall to 5-5, 2-3. The teams are 3-0 and 1-2, respectively, in the division.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lubamba finished the contest with 10 points and 11 rebounds for his fifth career double-double, his first this season. He added three assists and a steal.
  • Alhousseny Diallo just missed a second-straight double-double with a team-high 14 points and nine boards. He hit six of eight attempts from the field.
  • Elijah Burnett and Matas Piktuizis rounded out the double-figure scorers with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
  • Frankin Davis tied Lubamba for the assist lead while Piktuizis blocked three shots.
  • Belmont Abbey held Lees-McRae to only 22 points in the first half, en route to a nine-point lead at the break. The 66 points by the Bobcats were their season low.
  • The Crusaders shot 53.3 percent after intermission, building a 21-point lead by the midway point of the period.
  • The Abbey also held an overall rebounding advantage of 43-36.
