INDIANAPOLIS — The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team was ranked No. 9 in the latest Southeast Region rankings released by the NCAA Wednesday afternoon. It is the first ranked-order of the regional rankings released by the Division II Women's Soccer Committee.
The Crusaders are ranked after closing the regular season with a pair of victories over King and Erskine to close the regular season and earn the No. 2 seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
Belmont Abbey enters the tournament on a six-match win streak and a 13-4-1 overall record. The Crusaders finished the season with an 11-1-1 record in league play and won the Northwest Division championship in the process. The Abbey is one of two Conference Carolinas programs ranked along with Francis Marion, who is third.
Belmont Abbey will host the winner of Southern Wesleyan and Lees-McRae in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alumni Field.
