GREENVILLE, S.C. — Belmont Abbey fifth-year student-athlete Skyler Caban was named the Conference Carolinas wrestler of the week Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

Caban earned the honor after defeating Lander's Isham Peace last week in a double dual match against Shorter and the Bearcats last week. His win was a 5-4 decision in the 149-pound weight class. Peace entered the match as the No. 4 ranked wrestler in all of Division II in his respective weight class according to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
His one was one of three wins over nationally ranked wrestlers from Lander last week.

It is the second time in as many weeks that a Belmont Abbey wrestler earned Conference Player of the Week honors after Caleb Moore did so last week.

The Crusaders return to the mat December 20 in Golden, Colorado as the Abbey will compete in the Jack Hancock Duals hosted by Colorado School of Mines.
