Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Renato Bolado posted her fourth straight double-double -- and eighth overall but Converse rallied for a 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 22-25, 25-20, 15-12) hard-fought victory over Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action Friday night.
The Abbey had trailed 9-6 and 12-9 in the fifth set but fought back to even the decider at 9-9 and 12-12, respectively.
The Crusaders fall to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in league play (1-2 in the Northwest Division), while the Valkyries improve to 8-5, 4-2, 4-0).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bolado tallied a career-high 22 kills and added 10 digs. She hit .268 with seven errors in 56 attempts.
- Katie Brookins and Lola Sultenfuss also topped double figures in kills with 14 and 12, respectively.
- Mallory Swain led the defensive effort, reaching 17 digs for the third time this season.
- Emma Youngblood added a double-double of 44 assists and 10 digs. It was her sixth of the season, including four in a row.
- Kyleigh Coghlan also registered 10 digs.
- Friday marked the fifth time in 14 matches this season that the Crusaders have gone to five sets. They are now 3-2 in those situations.
