BELMONT, N.C. -- Jibriel Elhaddad tallied a career-high 12 kills while hitting .677, but Queens escaped with a 3-0 (25-22, 30-28, 25-21) victory over Belmont Abbey in men's college volleyball action Thursday night.

With the result, the Crusaders fall to 1-2 on the season, while the Royals remain unbeaten at 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Elhaddad  had all of his kills without an error in 18 chance. His hitting percentage ranks third all-time for a match in school history.
• Matthew Staskunas registered 10 kills and six digs, while Caden Day had nine kills.
• Joseph Morris had 36 assists and seven digs, while adding three blocks.
• Ethan Rehmann and Zach Puentes were also credited with three blocks.
• Elhaddad and Zach Puentes served the Crusaders' two aces.
• Alejandro Leon led the defensive effort with 11 digs.

• Belmont Abbey returns to action on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at the Silver Showcase in Reno, Nev. . The event features four of the eight NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago with Grand Canyon, Long Beach State and Fort Valley State as the opponents.
