BELMONT, N.C. — Haley Long tallied her second goal of the season as the Belmont Abbey women's soccer team finished in a 1-1 draw with Converse Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
It was the first conference home match of the season for the Crusaders, who began a stretch of four of the next five matches at home.
The Abbey is now unbeaten in four straight matches.
Belmont Abbey remains unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play and are 2-1-2 overall and 1-0-2 in league play. Converse is 2-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crusaders had a strong offensive attack in the first 45 minutes by outshooting the Valkyries 12-1.
- Addie Galek led the Abbey with three shots.
- Converse scored the first goal of the match in the 69th minute.
- The Crusaders ended up responding in the 79th minute with Long's second goal of the season with Gabriela Enciso and Addie Galek recording assists on the play.
- Belmont Abbey finished with three corner kicks.
- The Crusaders had a 16-5 advantage in shots and 9-1 in shots on goal.
