Kelly Hay set a school record in the pole vault and
Dayzhaun Gooding-Williams came just a quarter of a inch shy of doing the same in the long jump, highlighting Belmont Abbey's efforts on the first day of the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point.
Hay cleared 4.56m (14'-11½"), more than a foot (4.20m/13'-9
1/4) better than his previous best. Gooding-Williams, who already broke high jump record earlier this year, leaped 6.83m (22'-5").
Day Two of the meet focuses on sprints, hurdles and relays as well as completing the field events.
