BRISTOL, Tenn. --
Sage Farmer notched three hits Tuesday to highlight Belmont Abbey's effort in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader at King. However, the Tornado took both games, 11-1 in five innings and 9-1 in six innings.
With the results, the Crusaders fall to 11-12 overall and 3-7 in league play. King improves to 19-15, 6-2.
THE OPENER
- Farmer had two of the four Crusader hits in the contest, singles in the second and third.  singling to lead off the second. She scored The Abbey's only run on a single by Ivy Holley in the second.
- Casey Laing delivered a pinch-hit single in the fifth.
- McKenna Meadows took the loss to fall to 1-4.
THE NIGHTCAP
- Belmont Abbey was limited to just two hits in the contest, a double by Sydney Pon and a single by Farmer.
- Pon's double to left field in the third plated Casey Laing and put the Crusaders up 1-0.
- King used home runs in the fourth to tie it and in the fifth to moved ahead 3-1. It then added six in the sixth to end the contest.
- Adison Yoder (5-4) took the loss, throwing 5.1 innings.
UP NEXT
- Belmont Abbey continues to its road swing with a trip to the Eastern half of the state.
- The Crusaders face Chowan Friday and Barton on Saturday.
