BELMONT, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team put together a strong day on the court as the Crusaders earned two shutout victories over Johnson & Wales and Francis Marion Friday at the Reidy Tennis Center.
In the morning match, the Crusaders won every match in straight sets over the Wildcats and followed that up by winning eight of the nine matches against the Patriots later in the afternoon.
Maria Lopez earned wins in No. 1 doubles and singles against the Wildcats while
Alexis Burkhalter won in doubles and singles play against the Patriots. Additonally, the Crusaders won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Belmont Abbey is now 17-10 overall, 6-2 in Conference Carolinas play. Johnson & Wales is 5-12 overall while Francis Marion is 7-9 overall, 3-5 in league play.
