BELMONT, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team closed out the regular season and sent out its seniors on a good note by earning a 5-2 win over Mount Olive Saturday at the Reidy Tennis Center.
Prior to the match,
Andi Billingsley,
Hannah Farmer and
Maria Lopez were all honored in a ceremony for their contributions to the Crusader progam.
The Crusaders earned the victory over the Trojans by taking two of the three matches in doubles play to earn the point and winning four of the six singles matches.
For the second straight day,
Alexis Burkhalter earned wins in both singles and doubles plays for the Abbey while
Mackenzie McCarthy earned the clinching point with a three-set victory.
Belmont Abbey closes the regular season with an 18-10 overall record and 7-2 mark in Conference Carolinas play . Mount Olive is now 9-9 overall, 5-4 in the league.
The Crusaders will await their seeding for the Conference Carolinas Tournament next weekend in Sumter, S.C. Pending this weekend's results, Belmont Abbey is assured a top-4 seed.
