BELMONT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey overcame a pair of early deficits Tuesday afternoon to sweep a Conference Carolinas softball doubleheader over Lees-McRae, 6-5 and 15-6 in five innings. With the victories, Head Coach

The Abbey improved to 19-14 overall and 11-9 in league play, while the Bobcats fall to 15-21, 10-10
THE OPENER
- Sage Farmer had three hits and drove in three runs, while scoring twice.
- Hallie Mele, McKenna Meadors and Foster Sharpe had two hits each. Mele scored twice and drove in a pair, while Sharpe had one RBI.
- Sydney Pon and Alyssa Norman had the other two of the Crusaders' 11 hits.
- Trailing 5-0 after two innings, Pon put The Abbey on the board with an RBI double in the third.
- The Crusaders tied the game at 5-5 in the fourth, as Mele had a two-run double, then scored on a wild pitch to cut the gap to 5-4. Bailey Presley's sacrifice fly tied the game.
- Sharpe completed the comeback with a bases-loaded single through the left side in the fifth.
- Meadors picked up the win to improve to 5-6. She threw 4.1 innings of relief, allowing just two runs on six hits.
- Adison Yoder threw the final two innings, allowing just one hit, to earn her fourth save.
THE NIGHTCAP
- The Crusaders fell behind against after the Bobcats tallied five in the top of the first inning.
- But the lead was short-lived as The Abbey answered with six in the first and three in the second to go up 9-5.
- Mackenzie Allison homered and had three singles in a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the plate. She drove in eight runs and scored twice.
- Farmer and Pon each had three hits combining for seven runs, while Sharpe and Sami Kirk each had two hits. Kirk, a freshman, hit her first career home run in the fourth.
- Jenna Goldey picked up the win to move to 4-1 on the season. She scattered four hits and two walks over 2.1 innings of relief.
UP NEXT
- Belmont Abbey closes out its 2024 home schedule with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Converse.
- The two teams, who were originally rained out in Belmont on March 22, just split two games in Spartanburg on Saturday.
