WILSON, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team closed out its final regular season road match with a contest against Barton Saturday at Ralph L. Fike High School.
The Crusaders won three matches on the day but it was the Bulldogs who came away with the 5-2 victory. It was a matchup of two of the top teams in the league in the penultimate weekend of the season.
Elizabeth Vollmin and
Leilany Sanchez teamed up to win in doubles play while
Hanley Riner and
Mackenzie McCarthy both won three-set matches in No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
Belmont Abbey is now 15-10 overall, 5-2 in league play. Barton moves to 13-3 overall, 6-1 in league play.
