BELMONT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey men's volleyball closed out the 2024 regular season Thursday night with a 3-1 (25-15, 25-23, 17-25, 25-18) win over Erskine, giving the Crusaders a school-record 19 wins.
The overall record of 19-4 (13-1 in league play) eclipsed the 2016 team, which finished the campaign with an 18-4 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zach Puentes reached double figures in kills for the 19th time in 23 matches with 19. The total was high third-highest mark of the season, leading to a .531 hitting percentage (19k-2e-32a).Â
- Matthew Staskunas added 14 kills and one of the team's three service aces.
- Joseph Morris dished out 42 assists, while Alejandro Leon chipped in 11 digs, his ninth time in double figures.
- Jibriel Elhaddad registered five blocks, while Ethan Rehmann and Morris each had three.
- Belmont Abbey hit .368 (51k-12e-106a) as a team, the third-best percentage of the season. The Crusaders topped .300 in each of the winning sets (.526 in the first, .423 in the second and .333 in the fourth)

- Belmont Abbey has earned a bye into the semifinals of the 2024 Conference Carolinas Tournament, starting next Friday, April 19.
