BELMONT, N.C. -- Freshmen
Triniti Cassidy and
Katelyn Miller each tallied a career-high five goals and Belmont Abbey broke a 7-7 tie with eight straight goals in the fourth quarter, leading to a 15-7 win over North Greenville in Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse action Wednesday night.
With the victory, the hosts improve to 9-5 overall and 7-1 in league play, while the visitors fall to 2-10, 1-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both Cassidy and Miller finished with five points, also career highs.
- Haley Adamo scored twice, while Emma Pherson, Hannah Hizey and Faith Piser each struck one.
- Pherson and Hizey were credited with assists for a two-point night.
- Summer Eddinger made 12 saves in goal to earn the win.
- Belmont Abbey outshot North Greenville 39-24 overall and 28-19 on goal.
- The Abbey jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 9:13 and stretched that to 5-1 after 15 minutes.
- But NGU closed to within 7-5 at halftime and tied the game at 7-7 with 6:57 left in the third quarter.
- It took just 11 seconds into the fourth for the Crusaders to move ahead for good -- Miller scored in front off a pass from Pherson.
- The goal started an 8-0 quarter.
- Belmont Abbey can clinch no worse that the No. 2 seed on Friday if Young Harris loses to Mount Olive.

- Belmont Abbey takes its Easter break before returning to action next Wednesday.
- The Crusaders will host Lenoir-Rhyne in a non-conference affair.
