GASTONIA, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey came up big in the deciding game of the Mega-Match Sunday afternoon, sweeping a best four-of-seven Baker series from Walsh to earn a 2-1 victory and claim the 2024 Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Bowling Championship. The Crusaders won the team game before the Cavaliers evened the score at 1-1 by taking the five-game Baker total pinfall segment.
In the standard Baker game, The Abbey had three of its four games over 200 to secure its first championship. A year ago, the Crusaders were runners-up.
Following the event,
Canan Bademci was named the tournament Most Valuable Player, while
Asah Glover and
Aubrey Lloyd joined her on the All-Tournament Team.Â
In winning the championship, the Crusaders capture conference Carolinas first automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. They will find out their opponent and regional site on Wednesday at 4 p.m. through the selection show on ncaa.com
