PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Belmont Abbey saw its women's bowling season come to a close Friday as the Crusaders dropped a pair of matches to Division I teams at the NCAA Women's Bowling Pittsburgh Regional. This marks the third straight year that The Abbey has been eliminated in the second round after earning a spot in the main bracket.

In the opening round of the full double-elimination format, No. 3 overall seed Arkansas State swept The Abbey by a 2-0 score, winning the traditional team match 1067-977 and the five Baker total pinfall segment 1040-1038. The second outcome came down to the final frame, with Belmont Abbey missing a spare that would have forced the "if necessary" best-of-seven Baker series.

In the loser's bracket match during the afternoon, host Duquesne also took a 2-0 decision. The traditional match ended 948-915, despite a 203 game from Canan Bademci. . The five Baker total pinfall ended 960-917 with the Crusaders winning two of the five games but unable to two large deficits.

Making their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance, the Crusaders defeated Saint Vincent to earn its spot in the four-team bracket.
